MasterPix reproductions

I wanted to write about some really neat stuff for art (I mean the real art) and pixel-art fans.
Crew at master-pix.com has created some really interesting products - tees and posters with reporoductions of the famous paintings, re-made in pixel-art style. How awesome is that?
Of course I already have a William Turner's painting on my wall and some sweet Venus tshirt on me;)

Unruly Pixel art competition

Guys from Unruly Media are running some nice pixel-art competition to create some pixel-art icons to be used on the display of their office.

Lemon64 for all your Commodore fans

If you have any warm feeling about Commodore C64 - you need to visit http://www.lemon64.com/ (if you haven't done so already). It's a great site with lots of pixel art graphics from C64 games (there's much more than just games). Highly recommended!

Illuminatrix animated LED matrix

If you would like to have your pixel-art animation showacased to thousands of people during the Burning Man 2010 festival in Black Rock City, Nevada - go for this site. You can create your animation there in the special editor or write-up some Javascript. The animations will be displayed on the LED board during the festival.

Cube Dudes

Angus MacLane moved pixel art to our analog world - by creating a collection of "Cube Dudes" - 8bit characters made of Lego bricks. Check the collection on Flickr - it's really cool.

Lost as point-and-click game from the early 90's

Remeber Zak Mckracken? Well - if you played those point-and-click games down in the 90's and you're the Lost fan - here's something for you. Guys from Penney Design visualized the tv's LOST as old school adventure game.

C64 on your iPhone

Everybody loved the Commodore 64. I remember those magnificent games made in 8 colors and the noise the taperecorder was making while loading those masterpieces. Right now you can feel it once more on your iPhone (not the loading part I guess).
Company called Manomio just launched C64iPhone app. There are 5 titles right now, but the aim is to recreate all the best games
for C64. Can't wait for it actually;). If you want to know more - check c64iphone.com

Even more 3D Pixel art

Some time ago I wrote about a Flash powered app called QBlocks. Here's something that takes 3D Pixel art even further.
With Neuro Productions 3DPixel engine you can not only create a cube based models from scratch, but also import 3D Collada files that are converted to cubes on the fly. I see some very cool uses of that.

8Bit trip

Movie made with lego blocks. Those guys say that it took them 1500 hours to make it - and I actually belive them.

3D Pixel Art

Ok - this might sound as a joke, but there really is a 3D Pixel Art editor out there.
It's called Q-Block and it's pretty fun to get more dimensions for you pixel art.

Pixel Girls by Jean Yves Lemoigne

French photographer Jean Yves Lemoigne created a series of editorial pictures for Amusement magazine. Those are not pixel works, but are so heavily inspired by pixel art that they deserve a place here.
